Rhone Around the World Wine Club

It’s time for another shipment from our Rhone Around the World Wine Club!  This time, we focused on three wines that are perfect for summer: 2007 Sans Liege Sancha Marsanne, 2007 Atrea “The Choir” Roussanne/Viognier Blend, and 2008 Shane “Ma Fille” Syrah Rose.  As always, the wines are sent along with our wine club newsletter to highlight some information on the wines, winemakers and some perfect recipes to pair with.  This is the ideal kit to start off your summer!

Current members should be receiving their summer wine shipment shortly if they haven’t received it already, but it’s not too late for non-members to sign up!  You can view more information about the club here, and sign up to receive shipments in our online store.
the girl & the fig’s Wine Blog

Our wine blog has gone through a small redesign!  Still a great source of information for our wine club members and those interested in Rhone wines, we are now uploading tasting notes and other wine and winemaker information based off of the wines on our wine list at the girl & the fig.  This blog is updated regularly with new additions and old favorites, so stop by often to get great information on some tasty Rhone wines that you can try out for yourself at the girl & the fig.

Featured Cocktail: Sonoma Sunset

Since we are quickly approaching summer, when outside entertaining is a nightly affair, I’ve decided to write on one of my favorite summer drinks. The best part about it is that it is very easy to prepare in large batches so the host is freed from the worries of bartending.

4 cups Orange juice
4 cups Pineapple juice
2 cups light rum
1/2 cup of grenadine
2 cups soda water

To prepare this cocktail, just add the ingredients together and stir. If you are preparing this cocktail a few hours before hand, wait to add the soda water until just prior to service.

I would recommend serving this in your favorite punch bowl with a solid block of ice to keep it cold, or keep an ice bucket on the side.

I hope this adds a little festivity to your next BBQ. For an added kick, substitute half of the soda water for a dry sparkling wine.
