You’re Invited to ESTATE’s Annual July 4th Celebration!\

What: Join us at ESTATE for our annual July 4th celebration, complete with barbeque buffet, beer, wine, cocktails, Harvey’s Gourmet Donuts, live music, and the best view of Sonoma’s fireworks in town!  Your $10 corkage fee will be donated to the Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue Authority.

When: Sunday, July 4th at 7:00 pm (Doors open at 6:30 pm)

Where: ESTATE, 400 W Spain St, Sonoma

How Much: $75 per person / $25 per child under 11 / $900 for table of 12 / Prices do not include tax or gratuity

Introducing our Newest Fig Food Products!

Nana Mae’s Gravenstein apple, raisin & fig mostarda

A collaboration between the girl & the fig and Nana Mae’s Organics in Sebastopol, California, this product has a different flavor profile with creamy hints of apple, two types of raisins, sun-dried figs, and toasted mustard seeds. Subtle flavors of rosemary, cinnamon, coriander, and ginger add depth and create a nice balance in the product.

A tempting blend of golden raisins, black mission figs and mustard seeds resulting in a sweet and slightly tangy mostarda. Serve with cheese & charcuterie or as a spread on a sandwich.

Cheese on Main is a popular gourmet food and kitchen shop in Ocean Grove, New Jersey, established by Susan Morris in 2005.  Susan’s inspiration came long ago when she lived in Philadelphia and frequented a quaint cheese shop that felt like the social gathering spot in the town.  Her shop has become so much more than she expected.  “It has been an ever evolving education for me and for my clientele.  I still love it!”  She is especially fond of goat cheeses and says the fig in all forms is always high on her list.  She recommends pairing crostini with fresh goat cheese and a splash of black mission fig jam and the apricot fig chutney.  “Delicious!  And simple!  Goat gouda pairs beautifully with any of your products, even a drop of fig balsamic!”

Although we don’t have a link to direct you to Susan’s shop, you may be interested in traveling to her neighborhood via the article written about the side-by-side ocean destinations of Ocean Grove and Asbury Park, New Jersey.  Ocean Grove is a National Historic Landmark full of Victorian architecture and influenced by the Methodist Camp Meeting.  It will inspire you to look forward to summer days at the beach (or shore, if you are on the East Coast).   Based on the many five-star reviews Susan has on yelp, it appears she has re-created that social gathering spot in town and found a perfect fit for her dream.  Congratulations!


The Farm Project

the girl & the fig has long been dedicated to the use of local, organic and sustainable produce, and we have made much effort over the years to include as much of this produce as possible in our menus.  Now, we are very excited about our newest endeavor, The Farm Project, which allows us to expand our existing on-site gardens and partner with Benziger Family Winery and Imagery Estate Winery to produce biodynamically grown fresh produce for our restaurants and canned vegetables to be sold at the wineries.

With the guidance of biodynamic farming expert, Colby Eierman, employees from all of our restaurants are able to help with the gardens and see the full life cycle of the vegetables we grow – from seed to table.  Our guests will also be able to enjoy menu items that have truly been produced in-house from start to finish with the freshest organic ingredients possible.  Visit us soon to taste what we’ve grown!

Happy fig Anniversary!

It’s another big anniversary month for us!   Happy Anniversary to Bryan Jones, Chef at the fig cafe (pictured above left), and Dustin Villa, Sous Chef with the girl & the fig CATERS (pictured above right), who will have both been with us for 6 years this month.  We hope to have many more years with you both!
