Featured Retailer: Savour Wine and Cheese
by Julie Kantor

Kathleen Erickson opened Savour Wine and Cheese just in time for the 2011 Fourth of July celebration in the beautiful seaport town of Gloucester, Massachusetts. A certified sommelier, Kathleen brings her wide-ranging hospitality experience to the Cape Ann community. Her motto is “try before you buy.” There are twenty wines on wine machines for free tastings and a full-scale cheese counter offering samples of all cheeses.
“Cheese-Wiz” and chef, Krista Julian, interned at Formaggio Kitchen in Cambridge, enabling her to assist customers in pairing their cheese and wine selections. Recently, Krista presented the girl & the fig’s Dried Fig Compote on a cheese plate she served for a five course wine and cheese dinner Savour coordinated at a local restaurant. Krista prefers our Dried Fig Compote because “the balance of sweet and savory accents the high quality of the fruit.”
Kathleen will be offering her next five-part wine education series starting the 20th of September, and stay tuned for her forthcoming book, “Monks, Missionaries, Martyrs and Wine.”  Best wishes to the new venture in Gloucester!

Late Summer Farm Forum
We are very honored to be hosting the Late Summer Farm Forum at ESTATE on Tuesday, September 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. This forum is the third in a seasonal series that gives us the opportunity to discuss the future of food and farming in Sonoma County. The series also places special recognition on the legacy of Luther Burbank by looking closely at mixing modern farming technology with historical wisdom.

We’d love to see you at the forum! Our own Chef John Toulze will be on the speaking panel, as well as many other key individuals in the Sonoma County food and farm world. Donations of $15 (cash or check only, please) at the door will include nibbles and sips. All proceeds from the forums go directly to help fund various farm projects throughout Sonoma County, including the planting of a Luther Burbank orchard at a local Sonoma Valley school.
Please RSVP to waverly@clarkwolf.com.

Hope to see you there!
